Rookie Race Report at Buckmore Park for 4th October 2008

Time now to wheel out those campaigners with a few more centimetres, not to mention milligrams — Shhh, I said not to mention them. Race three provided the opportunity for James Cossins to show what he is made of. It was a bit disappointing in all honesty; it turned out to be mainly water with a smattering of minerals and stuff. Still, whatever mixture it was it worked in terms of propelling him from the midfield to the status of winner in as few as three minutes. It was one of those thrilling finishes where the top three all crossed in the bling of a chav. Jordan Annells was next home after shepherding kart 13 into the corral. (That’s three times in the top three, it’s been at those E numbers again methinks, maybe time for an early night. The kart that is, not Jordan). While kart 13 had been imbibing the E numbers I think the kart under the bottom of Aymane Yacine had been at the Horlicks. True it propelled him to third but he’d started second and we all know he’s not backward in coming forward is he. James Walkington started and finished in fourth while Jay Rudd completed the roost from fifth. Question. How can a Jay be a rook. Maybe by painting the white bits black and going for beak enhancement surgery.

Six followed five as inexorably as detention follows lying about why you haven’t brought your homework in. James Cossins had certainly done his homework about how to convert a pole into a cool twelve points and he handed his results in nearly a twentieth of a minute before Aymane Yacine got there. To be fair Aymane also had to do a bit that overtaking malarkey as he’d started eighth. Another plug is due for Jordan Annells now as he again featured in los tres superiors. If you don’t speak Spanish I can translate that for you as superiori dei tres di los. I hope that helped. This review of the top five cannot reach its logical conclusion until I have included Jay Rudd and James Walkington. There was a guy in this race called No Name 1 but in all honesty he was rubbish.

In the remaining old dude heat we watched James Walkington not so much walk but fly into the lead despite an ever present threat to his position from Aymane Yacine who had to console himself with second. Jay Rudd did his overtaking trick four times so that I could say with 100% honesty that he finished third. James Cossins concluded his heat business with a P10 to fourth conversion which left Joseph Jones no option other than to self combust or finish fifth. He chose the latter. No Name 1 was again pants but at least scored a point for not bothering to even enter let alone turn up.

We gave all the young dudes a short break so they could carry the news while their older buddies settled the outstanding issue of the rightful claim to the crown. This was settled in favour of Aymane Yacine after a terrific eight lap battle in which the top four places were traded freely on the open market. By the flag Aymane was 0.78 clear of James Walkington who would earn silver while James Cossins ended a great day with a well deserved bronze. The roll call of J’s continues unabated as we cheered Jay Rudd, Joseph Jones and Jordan Annells home for fourth through sixth. Not wishing to be left out Jrad Saunders, Juke Millington and Jndre Nicodemou completed the leader board.
