Another fun filled Rookie Race Day!

We shifted up the age scale for race three from sprog to teen where we found Jay Rudd taking control of the proceedings but by the infinitesimal margin of seven smidglings of a tad over Aymane Yacine. Up from fifth came Matt Meekings while James Swatton climbed eight places to take fourth. Sam Bennigsen finished in fifth after a P8 start.

Like a cuckoo in a sparrows nest we had a Jay in a Rookie race, Jay Rudd to be exact. In heat six Jay converted his pole start into a lead of three of your earth seconds over third placed Aymane Yacine. Whilst a Jay is very clearly a bird, Connor Burdett is less defined, a baby bird perhaps. Anyway, our Burdling came through to fourth after fighting his way through the flock from tenth. Sam Bennigsen completed this review of the top five, by coming fifth.

The more senior folk were again wheeled out for race nine and here we watched Sam Bennigsen who could easily be a direct descendant of Count Von Bennigsen – who fought in the Napoleonic Wars – do his battle winning bit as he crossed the line nearly three seconds clear of James Swatton who started as he meant to go on, in second. John Frith-Haines was the poleman for this epic but he finished with ten points for third when he crossed just clear of Ali Katal. At this point in the paragraph we are a P5 short of a barbecue but amazingly if I simply press the T.h.o.m.a.s. G.o.o.d.w.i.n. keys in that order I reveal the total picture.

Out next came the elder statesmen for their final where, as usual, we witnessed the high adrenalin, all action, wheel to wheel, cliché ridden spectacle their A final provides. Emerging victorious, long to reign over us, came Thomas Goodwin who had the disadvantage of height and therefore weight to overcome as well. Just two tads of a smidge later Jay Rudd brought his kart home for silver and that left the bronze for Aymane Yacine which doubtless impressed his visiting Grandma. Making a welcome return to the club Connor Burdett did the potless fourth bit, leaving James Swatton the remaining top five slot. The second half of the pack was led by John Frith-Haines with Sam Bennigsen a split pea behind. The remaining finishers were Oliver Thomas, Ali Katal, Robbie Summerhayes and Andre Nicodemou. Andre had suffered a most miserable day after becoming the butt of everyone else’s crashes all day.
